Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in strength within the city.
Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of characters who will split off from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might look out of place, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the team knows exactly where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
Casimir then settled his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, wants vengeance.
- Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
- The warrior and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could help the team access places they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The fighter swore a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are sought by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to head to the remote area in quest for Casimir.
Future Episodes
According to episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the players to assemble the Explorers and Planners groups.
Audiences can expect discovering which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
